DELHI POLICE will install cargo scanners to scan the vehicles entering the Games Village during the Commonwealth Games (CG) in another step towards strengthening the security for Commonwealth Games. These cargo scanners will be placed outside the Games Village near Akshardham temple are priced between Rs 15 to Rs 20 crore. A heavy vehicle or truck can be easily passed through it.
These huge scanning machines will ensure no explosives or ammunition can be sneaked into the Games village site by hiding them in a vehicle. One of the main features of the cargo scanners is that with the click of a button, the security personnel will able to scan the whole vehicle. Be it food or luggage, every speck can be scanned by the machine. All information will be immediately recorded by the computer and it will be stored in hard disk.
