
“My target this time is gold,” the 19-year old World No. 8 from Hyderabad told the Economic Times, showcasing her eagerness to build on the success of last few years. In the last four years she has won seven major titles including the prestigious Chinese Taipei Open and reached the quarter finals of the Beijing Olympics.
Asked if expectations bothered her, she said she put more pressure on herself to scale up to expectations. “You have to work hard and be consistent whether you are No. 6 in the world or No. 60,” she said. “I am always ready for any challenges that come my way and they always spur me on.”
